In 2021, three engineers at a large social platform discovered their recommendation engine was bottlenecked by a fundamental mismatch: the data was a graph, but their database was a table.
Every query that should have been a traversal was instead a chain of expensive JOINs. PageRank jobs that should run in seconds were taking hours. They started building an internal tool — just to solve their own problem. Within six months, every other team at the company wanted access to it.
That internal tool became Graph API Data. We left to build it properly, raised a seed round, and launched to the public in March 2022. Three years later, we're processing over 10 billion edges per day for more than 40,000 developers worldwide.
We're a remote-first team of 28 people spread across 12 countries. We care deeply about developer experience, API design, and making graph databases accessible to everyone — not just teams with PhDs in graph theory.
